The best job in the world?
Being paid for driving a Lamborghini
Giorgio Sanna, the number one test pilot of Lamborghini is right to feel privileged getting to test the prototypes of the Italian car maker long before their launch. His feedback has a direct impact on their development, and he certainly never gets a speeding ticket – he's free to push the car to its limits on the track.
Sanna is not only involved in the testing process of the cars made for the road but takes part in the motor sport programme of Lamborghini as well. Besides testing the race cars this involves participating in the Super Trofeo races, so he has a clear view of every aspect. According to Sanna, the Gallardo LP570-4 Squadra Corse road car is pretty close to his Super Trofeo race car, as the two share the same engine, the gearbox, and the 4WD.
As a sign of appreciation limited series Lamborghini models are often named after test pilots. The RWD Gallardo launched a while back was for example named after Valentino Balboni.
